A Rocket Money alternative, when your bank is not in the US
Rocket Money is built for people in the United States with US banks, and its best-known features are a team that cancels subscriptions and negotiates bills for you, so the right alternative depends on which part you actually use.
Stay with Rocket Money if you live in the United States and want an app that finds your subscriptions, has its team cancel them and negotiates your bills, because Hundo does none of those things. Switch to Hundo if you live outside the US, will not link your bank, or hold more than one currency: Rocket Money is only for people in the United States with US banks, while Hundo has no bank connection, no country list and 166 currencies.
Rocket Money is one of the best-known money apps in the United States, and its pitch is different from most budgeting apps. It is less about the budget and more about the leaks: subscriptions you forgot, and bills that could be lower.
That makes this comparison easy to set up. If those services are why you use it, Hundo is not a replacement. If they are not, the question is what you actually need from a tracker.
What does Rocket Money do that most apps do not?Link to this section
It cancels subscriptions for you. The free plan finds and tracks your recurring subscriptions. In Premium, Rocket Money's team cancels many of them on your behalf, and its pricing article says "it usually takes the team 2-10 days to cancel a subscription".
It negotiates bills. Its negotiators contact providers such as phone, cable and internet companies and ask for a lower rate. If a negotiation fails, there is no fee. If it succeeds, the fee is 35% to 60% of your first year's savings, and you choose the percentage within that range. On Premium+, the pricing article says there is no bill negotiation fee.
It has an AI assistant you text. Rowan is "an AI-powered financial assistant" included with Premium+, and it works by text message, from your phone's messaging app.
Credit where it is due: these are real services with people behind them, and nothing like them exists in Hundo.

Rocket Money has a free plan. Premium uses what Rocket Money calls a "pay what you think is fair" model, "typically ranging from $7 to $14 per month", and the same article says that range is subject to change. Premium+ costs $15 a month. New Premium members get a 7-day free trial.
One detail is easy to miss. Rocket Money's help centre says the website is exclusively available to Premium members, so on the free plan you use the mobile app.
Does Rocket Money work outside the United States?Link to this section
No. Rocket Money's help article Does Rocket Money support international banks? says:
Rocket Money is only available to users located within the United States and with U.S. based banks.
If you live anywhere else, Rocket Money was never on your list, whatever a roundup told you. What to do when no app supports your country is the fuller answer.
Should you leave Rocket Money for Hundo to save money?Link to this section
Not if the cancelling and the negotiating are what you use. Hundo does not cancel subscriptions, does not negotiate bills, and has no bank connection to find recurring charges in. Moving to save a subscription fee would cost you the services you were paying for.
If what you mostly use is the budget and the spending view, and you would rather not link a bank at all, the question changes. It becomes how fast an entry goes in without a feed.
What makes an app without bank connections worth using?Link to this section
With no bank feed, an app lives or dies on two things: how fast an entry goes in, and whether it treats currencies properly.
Getting entries in. In Hundo you type the amount first and pick from suggestions ranked out of your own history, or import a CSV, TSV or Excel file with column mapping and duplicate detection. Both are free. In Pro you can also photograph a receipt, forward an email receipt, dictate, or tell the assistant what you spent and confirm its draft. How to keep tracking by hand after the novelty wears off covers the habit side.
Currencies, properly. Each account, asset and budget keeps its own currency, in 166 of them. Each transaction stores the exchange rate for its own date, so old months keep their old rates. Net worth reports in one base currency, and can split a change into the part that was your money and the part that was the exchange rate. What a multi-currency net worth tracker has to get right goes further, and which exchange rate to record covers a card charge in another currency.
What do you give up by leaving Rocket Money for Hundo?Link to this section
- Subscription cancelling. Nobody at Hundo contacts a company for you.
- Bill negotiation. Hundo does not negotiate bills.
- Connected accounts. Nothing appears by itself. You type it or import it.
What does Hundo give you instead?Link to this section
- A tracker that is free forever, with nothing capped: unlimited accounts, transactions, budgets and assets.
- No bank credentials anywhere, because there is no bank connection to hold them. Why that suits some people.
- Every currency, with each account, asset and budget in its own.
- Assets beyond cash. Crypto, stocks, funds and precious metals are priced automatically, and you value property and vehicles yourself.
- Your own AI, if you want one. Hundo publishes an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT or another client can read your ledger and draft changes that are only written after you confirm. That is part of Pro, which is pay what you want: $36 a year at the minimum, $72 suggested, or $8 a month, with a 7-day trial for new subscribers. How to connect one.
